Law enforcement guidelines

Last updated: 2026

Purpose

EverVows operates a Christian matrimonial service and takes its obligations to members and to the justice system seriously. These guidelines explain how EverVows handles requests from law enforcement and other government agencies for member information, how emergencies are handled, and how we protect member privacy throughout the process. This page is published for transparency and does not create any rights greater than applicable law.

How to submit a request

All requests must be submitted in writing to lawenforcement@evervows.net from an official agency email address. Please include: the name, badge/ID number, agency, and direct contact details of the requesting officer; the official case or incident number; a description of the information sought and its connection to an ongoing investigation; the specific member identifiers available (email address, profile name, or EverVows member ID); and copies of any applicable legal process. Requests from personal email addresses cannot be accepted.

Types of legal process we honor

Voluntary disclosure: EverVows may, at its discretion, disclose limited member-provided information (such as a name or profile content) in cases involving the safety of a child, imminent threat to life, or other matters where the member would reasonably expect sharing. Formal requests for non-content account data (registration date, email address, profile fields, connection activity) generally require a subpoena or equivalent legal process. Requests for content (messages, voice messages, reports, correspondence) require a court order or search warrant showing probable cause, as required by the law of the requesting jurisdiction.

Emergency requests

When EverVows receives a credible report of imminent danger to life, risk of serious physical injury, or ongoing harm involving a child, we prioritize the request and may disclose the minimum information necessary to respond before formal process is served. Emergency requests should be sent to lawenforcement@evervows.net with "EMERGENCY" in the subject line and must identify the responsible agency and officer, describe the nature of the emergency, and state what specific data is needed. Formal process should follow promptly.

What data EverVows can provide

Depending on the legal process served and applicable law, EverVows may be able to provide: the member's email address, registration date, last sign-in date, status, profile fields, photos and testimony as submitted, connection-request history, moderation and review records, reports filed by or about the member, and the content of messages and voice messages where legally authorized. Some data is encrypted and retained for limited periods; where data is no longer available or never existed, we will tell the requesting agency.

Data preservation

Upon written request from an agency with jurisdiction, EverVows will preserve available records for a member account for up to 90 days, renewable upon request, pending service of formal legal process. Preservation requests should include the same identifiers as a data request.

Notice to members

EverVows' default practice is to notify the member whose records are requested before or after disclosure, unless the law prohibits notification or we determine that notice would create a risk of harm to any person or frustrate an investigation. Gag orders, nondisclosure orders, and delayed-notice provisions will be honored to the extent permitted by law and challenged only where required.

International requests

Requests from agencies outside the country where EverVows stores its records are processed through applicable cross-border legal mechanisms, including mutual legal assistance treaties (MLATs) and the requesting government's authorized channels. EverVows may decline requests that do not comply with applicable cross-border data-transfer law.

Child safety reports

EverVows has a zero-tolerance policy against child sexual abuse and exploitation and reports apparent CSAM and CSAE to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant authorities. For details of our standards, see our Child Safety Standards page. Law enforcement inquiries related to child safety receive the highest priority and may be addressed to lawenforcement@evervows.net or safety@evervows.net.

Fees and reimbursement

EverVows may charge reasonable reimbursement for the cost of responding to legal process, as permitted by applicable law, and may waive fees in emergencies, child-safety matters, or cases involving public interest.
